2011 February Wind and Base—Men’s Ministry

Here are just a few definitions of the word “base”--the chief ingredient in a compound. The line or surface constituting that part of a figure on which it is supposed to stand. To lay the foundation. The point or line from which a start is made. It can also mean of humble birth.
Read this scripture:

4 The waters nourished it, deep springs made it grow tall; their streams flowed all around its base and sent their channels to all the trees of the field. 5 So it towered higher than all the trees of the field; its boughs increased and its branches grew long, spreading because of abundant waters. Ezekiel 31:4-5 NIV

Listen to Ezekiel 31 KJV

Jesus is our base and also the abundant living water on which to build upon. Read this next scripture:

“The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit." John 3:8 NIV

Listen to John 3 KJV

As a Christian, God speaks to us in a quiet voice. Are we listening when he speaks? Are you returning to your base, or better still remaining in your foundation—trusting in God to lead you? In order to have all that God has promised that is what we need to do, even when the storms come. Some might think especially when the storm comes; but I tell you if you remain firm, standing on the base (Jesus) the storm will not affect you. Remain in him and he will remain in you. Be like the tree whose base is planted firmly in abundant waters. Read the scripture below:

2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night. 3 He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers. 4 Not so the wicked! They are like chaff that the wind blows away. Psalms 1:2-4 NIV

Listen to Psalms 1 KJV

Do you know that the wind actually strengthens trees? The weak ones may break, but the ones grounded are special—they actually get stronger. You are a tree, the wind is life’s storms, trial’s, hardships, life lessons; Gods way of hardening and strengthening your branches to grow and learn, turning bad things into something good. Remain planted in the base of living water and your leaves will not wither. Word to remember this month is BASE.

B - Build
A - And
S - Strengthen
E – Eternally

Reminder of February's Memory Verse

Stop judging by mere appearances, and make a right judgment. John 7:24 NIV

Listen to John 7 KJV

Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment. John 7:24 KJV
